Period 1
Happy Friday everyone! So the last day of the week and I only have one new assignment for you. Before I get into that though, you should have been given a note sheet on White Balance. It's a short lesson and notes. Once you've completed them, please turn them in to the bin just like before. The end of the lesson will explain next weeks photos. You will only need to take three this week, but for full credit, the photo should use a white balance setting that matches the mood of the photo. If you're using your phone, you probably should install Lightroom and use it's camera function:
Picture
I can explain a bit more next week but the above photo will explain accessing the different settings you will need for it. Three photos, if sad, use a cool or cold setting. If happy, use a warm setting.
Now the last assignment for the week is to use Photoshop to limit the depth of field. Yes, you could change the aperture when your shooting or you could use Photoshop to edit it to change the depth. Open one of your photos that has a large depth of field in focus and limit it in Photoshop. This video will explain! Have a great weekend everyone!

Handouts: White Balance, Lens Blur for Depth of Field

Period 4

Good morning and happy Friday! I don't have a ton to share with you today. Following yesterdays lesson on logo, and me describing the logo project, I would like you to draw thumbnails and a rough for your logo today. If you have both done, great! Did you cut your paper to print on for screen printing? Degrease your screen? Finish the comprehensive and email it to me? If you did, you're a rock star and you are good for the day! If not, you should keep grinding. That's really all that I have for today. I will be back for Monday's class and will go over the next steps then. Have a great weekend!

Handouts: None

Period 5
Good afternoon gamers! Hope all is well! Today is the last day of class to work on Breakout. Monday we are going to test each others games and evaluate them by playing them. If you aren't done, then you can't play and instead will use the time to produce your game. In preparation for this, I would like you to watch the video on Feedback. You should be given a packet on feedback to complete and turn in for credit. Then you can work on your Breakout Beta or if it's done, you can start planning and creating sprites for Pacman. That's all that I have for you for today. Your game is due Sunday night so get cracking!

Period 1
Good morning! I see that half of you have completed and turned in the the wallpapers and a third of you have completed and turned in the entire project! That's awesome! The wallpapers are due tomorrow and the completed Antiqued photo is due Friday so there is still time to catch up. Based on what I'm seeing and the lack of questions about the project I can only assume that things are going well on it. Hope that's the case!
So on to today... I have a video on exposure compensation for you to watch. You should be given a note sheet that goes with it but you don't have to take notes on the sheet; they are already there for you. These tie into some new touch ups that I would like you to do today. Sticking with the theme of the last few days, exposure, I would like you to do some exposure touch up in Photoshop. First, find a photo of yours in which the highlights are a little too bright. Typically a photo in which the flash was used would be perfect for this. Then I would like you to use the Burn Tool to darken the highlights. Similarly, find a photo in which the shadows are a bit too dark and lighten them with the Dodge Tool. Both of these are shown on this video. Remember to save the before and after versions and upload them to Schoology. The opposite of a spot correction is a global correction; a correction in which the entire image is effected. That's where we'll go next. I would like you to use levels to boost the exposure in one of your photos that doesn't have fully dark shadows or fully bright highlights. The final adjustment for today is to boost the color globally on one of your photos. You'll use Hue & Saturation for this. These shouldn't take long for you to do but they can be very helpful to get photos to look their best. That's all that I have for you today. If you have any questions, please let me know!

What are we learning today?

Period 4
Good morning everyone. Hope all is well today at NHS. I have received quite a few comprehensives to my in box. That's fantastic! I will have them made for you when I return Monday. You may be wondering what I have in store for you for today then. Well if your comprehensive is made and sized to be 8 x 8" at most, print it out. You can the measure the image, add an extra inch to each dimension. Then cut paper to this size to print on. When cutting you'll have to use the manual paper cutters. Cut paper until you have 25 sheets, all the same size, and the correct size. Color wise, you can use as many colors as you would like, just don't use the same color of paper as the ink that you plan to use! This is all described here.
As we move away from the notepad project (if it's not yet done, you're falling pretty fair behind) and continue to keep grinding on the screen print, it's a good time to start working on the logo project. For this you will pick a musician (or if you don't like music, a show or movie) and create a new logo for that artist. That doesn't mean vector their current logo!!! No, instead you will come up with something new for them. Start by watching this lesson on logo design. I'm not going to make you take notes! I'm trusting you to do the right thing here and watch the lesson so you know what goes into a good design. Then start think about what artist (or if you don't like music, movies, shows or even video games will do) you would like to do. Just like we did in class in the past with the baseball design, create a list of things that would fit with your chosen artist. Eventually we will use this logo and artist to create a vinyl jacket and decals to go on a vinyl record too. I'll get more into that stuff later. That brainstorming list will help you for all of this later on in the class. That's all that I have for you today! If you have any questions please let me know!

Good afternoon everyone, hope you're having a fantastic day today. I haven't heard much about your game so I guess it's going well! Today, start with a Kahoot on your own again. You can just simply click on the link and choose Play Solo. Once you've played, take a picture of your results and turn it on on Schoology to get credit for reviewing. Don't just post the same picture as the last time! I really want you to review so you can do well on the quiz! Next week, likely midweek, we will have a quiz on the content so take this opportunity to prepare for it with the Kahoot. Once you've reviewed, keep grinding on your Breakout. If you, like a classmate or two of yours, are getting close to completing your game or have completed it, start thinking about your next game and what you want the theme to be. We will make Pacman next. You'll need a wall sprite, a 5 enemies (although they can be the same just with different colors like the ghosts in pacman, a hero, and a food or something to pick up to add to the score. Good morning camera nerds! 😊Hope all is well in PA! While I miss you guys, I can not say that I miss the cold Pennsylvania weather. So what do I want you to do today? Well, start by completing the notes that you started yesterday. Once finished, write your name on the packet and turn it in so that I can give you credit for doing it. Then it's back into the Antiquing Project. Hopefully yesterday you were able to age and weather your photo with a texture and then add it to a picture frame. Today I want you to start by making two different wallpapers in Illustrator. Once created, upload both to Schoology. The next step, Part 3, is about adding 3d effects to make it look real and have depth and hanging it on the wallpaper that you made in Illustrator. Once it's hung on the wall and both the glass and drop shadow effects are added, move on to Part 4; add a vignette for a spot light effect. This will make it appear as though there is a light shining directly on the framed picture. Since this is the last step for the project, save it as a PSD and a PNG and upload both to Schoology. That's it for this project! It looks really complex and impressive but really shouldn't have been too horrible to do. If you have any questions, let me know. Hope you all have a great Wednesday!

What are we learning today?
1. Slides: Exposure Basics Part 2
2. Demo: Making a Wallpaper
3. Demo: Antiqued Photo Part 3
4. Demo: Antiqued Photo Part 4
5. Objectives to Accomplish Today:
    Antiqued Photo
     - Download the frame & add the photo to it
     - Add a glass overlay on top of the portrait
     - Create a wallpaper
     - Add the portrait to the wallpaper
     - Apply a drop shadow to the frame
     - Make a vignette to emulate a spotlight on the picture
     - Save as a PNG & PSD, turn in PNG

Good morning class. Happy hump day! Hope it's been a great day for you so far! Today I would like you to try to wrap up the notepad if you haven't yet. With the screen printing project you should choose a theme, sketch four thumbnails for that theme and then make a rough of the best one. Then you should make a vector of your design. It doesn't matter if you use shapes, the pen tool, the type tool... it's probably best if you do a combination of each! Once it's created, and take your time to make it look good, then you'll need to convert just the color that you want to print to black. All other colors should be white or transparent. Now you may not want to print with black ink... all good, I don't blame you! But for now, on the Illustrator file it must be. Please check out this video on prepping your image. The file thing that I have for you to do is to start preparing your screen. Take a look at this video on degreasing and then do the same thing for you screen. That's all that I have for you. Hope you have a fantastic day today!

What are we learning today?
1. Vectoring The Image & Converting it to Monochrome
2. Demo: Degreasing Your Screen

Good afternoon gamers! Hope all is well today. I miss you all and talking tech and games with you. The good news is that me not being there is that you don't have to worry about me yapping too much or taking work time away from you! Today is simply a work day. If you still haven't done the Kahoot that I asked you to do yesterday, complete and upload the results to schoology to get credit for it. Aside from that, hope you have a great day and get a lot accomplished!

Period 1
Good morning everyone, hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend! As we discussed last week, I'm in Florida this week with my family. However, class will proceed just as we would if I was there... you'll just have me in video form! You should be given a packet on Exposure Basics today. Please watch the first part of the lesson (you only need to do this part today) and complete the accompanying notes sections. You will get credit for completing these notes if you turn them in tomorrow after you complete the second section. Afterwards you can get started on the Antiqued Photo project that we discussed last week. Start by selecting one of your pictures and one of your texture photos. With these pictures, you can do part 1, the aging and distressing. There is an accompanying paper that you should be given or you can follow the video. Honestly, I think it's easier to follow the video but do what you're most comfortable with. After aging and distressing the photo you can move on to part 2. On that page you'll find a picture frame to use as well as a video explaining how to do it and a digital version of the Part 2 handout. With these tools you can add the photo to the frame. I will be checking Schoology messages and emails all week so if you have questions, let me know. Hope you have a fantastic week!

What are we learning today?
1. Slides: Exposure Basics
2. Demo: Antiqued Photo Part 1
3. Demo: Antiqued Photo Part 2
4. Objectives to Accomplish Today:
   Blur Overlay
     - Find a photo from your camera roll to use for this project
     - Open the image in Photoshop
     - Follow the steps to duplicate & change the layers blending mode
     - Upload the before & after versions
    Antiqued Photo
     - Download the frame & add the photo to it
     - Add a glass overlay on top of the portrait
     - Create a wallpaper
     - Add the portrait to the wallpaper
     - Apply a drop shadow to the frame

Period 4

Good morning everyone, hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend! As we discussed last week, I'm in Florida this week with my family. However, class will proceed just as we would if I was there... you'll just have me in video form! So what do I have planned for you today? Well, top priority should be completing your notepad. Whichever step you have just done, move on to the next step on the list. There is a video and/or a handout (likely both!) for each step. If you complete your notepad, turn it in to the bin on the corner of my desk.
Once the notepad is done, work on the screen print. Start with a theme and then sketch four thumbnails on paper. Once the thumbnails are done, on the back of the paper or a new sheet, draw and color your rough. Remember that you will use one color of ink but can print on any color of paper that you would like. That's really all that I have for you to do today. If you have questions that the videos or handouts cannot answer, I'd try checking with your classmates that have completed the step or project. They can likely provide answers immediately. I will be checking email and Schoology but I more than likely won't be as prompt as your classmates can be! Hope you have a fantastic day!

Good afternoon everyone, hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend! As we discussed last week, I'm in Florida this week with my family. However, class will proceed just as we would if I was there... you'll just have me in video form! So what should you do today? Well, start with a Kahoot on your own. You can just simply click on the link and choose Play Solo. Once you've played, take a picture of your results and turn it on on Schoology to get credit for reviewing. Next week, likely midweek, we will have a quiz on the content so take this opportunity to prepare for it with the Kahoot. Once you've reviewed, keep grinding on your Breakout. If you need anything, I'd first check with one of your peers that has completed the step that you're stuck on. I'm happy to answer questions, and I will check Schoology and email but I won't be on it much during the day so I probably can't respond as quickly as your peers can. If you do reach out to me, be thorough in explaining your issue, and maybe even export your game and include it in the email. To do this choose File>Export>YYZ. Hope you have a fantastic day today!
