Good morning guys, hope you had a great weekend. My daughter is rather sick today so I am at home taking care of her. Sorry that I can't be there with you to help you with your work. I should be back tomorrow though. So what are you doing in class today? Well, we're moving away from the Typeface Search and into a new assignment; Personifying a Word. Take a look at the link below. You'll find some example of what I'm talking about. There is a link on that page that will take you to a list of words. Think of how you could illustrator them to look like their definition and then put your name next to one of them. Then sketch four unique ways that you could make the word. Take a look at my sketches, also known as thumbnails, for falling for example. That should do it for today. Hope you have a great day!

- Obtain and label four sheets of paper
- 5 Roman, 5 Square (page 1)
- 10 Sans Serif (page 2)
- 10 Script (page 3)
- 1 Text, 9 Novelty (page 4)
- Cut out examples and glue them into the correct section
- Print cover page
- Staple all pages together
- Turn in Search to bin
Personifying a Word
- Choose a word from the list
- Brainstorm ways that you exemplifying the words meaning
- Draw four thumbnails of different ideas for your word
- Develop the best thumbnail into a rough
- Create your word with type & a simple graphic
- Save the file a a PDF
- Upload the PDF to Schoology

I should be back tomorrow though. So today we are starting a new unit of study... portrait touch ups. You can use any of the photos that you have taken for this unit, just not photos that you take from the web! First I would like you to check out the Dove video link. Read what I have written there and take a look at the video. I have three touch ups linked below for you to work on today. You'll find a video there to explain how to do each of the corrections. Once complete, upload them to Schoology. Clone Stamp and Dark Circles are due today and the Smart Cast (or tanning) is due tomorrow. Hope you have a great day!

Clone Stamp
- Open a portrait in which the subject has a mole, pimple, birthmark etc.
- Use the clone stamp to cover it
- Upload the before and after to schoology
Smart Cast
- Open a portrait to tan the subjects skin
- Follow the steps to tan ONLY the skin
- Upload the before and after to schoology
Dark Circles
- Open a portrait in which the subject has wrinkles or dark circles under their eyes
- Use the patch tool to blend the area
- Upload the before and after to Schoology

Please watch the video and finish the notes as you watch. Once you're done with the notes, you can spend the rest of time working on the vector that we'll use for the pin. Have a great day everyone!

Vector
- Find an image to vector
- Get it approved
- Create a new Ai file & place the image
- Lock layer 1, create a new layer
- Vector the image piece by piece
- Color each piece with the eyedropper tool
- Save & upload the Ai file to Schoology
Pin
- Create a new Ai doc
- Make a circle of 2.3”
- Copy and paste the circle behind the other and scale it up to 2.75”
- Add the vector, background and Text on a Path
- Delete the inner Circle once the design is complete
- Copy the pin and paste a second one on the page
- Print, Save & Upload to Schoology
- Hole punch the print into a circle
- Load pin, print& film in one side, clasp in other side
- Punch each
- Write your name on tape and place on back of pin, turn in
