Periods 1 & 5
Happy Friday everyone! Hope it's off to a great start so far. For today I have another touch up, smart cast. With this, the idea is to tan the skin of the subject. Don't tan the background or clothes, then it will just apply a color cast to the entire photo. I'm just giving you this one assignment to do because you also have to turn in this weeks photos and make a proof sheet too.
Speaking of photos, this weeks assignment (due next Friday) is to take 10 pictures using repetition. Do a google search for repetition in photography and you'll see that there are examples with repeating patterns, lines, etc. Try not to take pictures of just patterned materials but things like repeating fence posts, trees in a row, etc. I'll be back Monday and can offer more clarification if you need it. Have a great weekend!

**Update: I just read my email from Miss Collier and I'm disappointed to hear that many of you have been spending a lot of time on your phones. I don't care if you set up your music, or are on it when you have competed all of your work. If you haven't, my expectation is that you are not on your phone. Please use the time that you have wisely because when I return we are going to step up the pace and move on!**

Periods 1 & 5
Hello photographers. Hope you enjoyed the snow day yesterday. I can't lie... I'm glad I missed it :D Winter could be over and we could jump right into summer weather without me shedding a tear! Thanks for all of the email questions that I have received from you. I'm happy to respond and keep you on track and moving forward with your projects. I love that your engaged and working hard! I have backed up the logo to today because of the snow. I also backed up the first two touch ups accordingly as well.

For those that have completed the logo and are working on touch ups, the next touch up is make skin look smooth and silky. It's done with smart layers... a layer were the adjustment is made and can be changed or deleted. This helps to get around the 30 undo limit that Photoshop has, since the layer is where the change is made. I call this smart blur since we are blurring the skin. For this to really work, only the skin should have the blur on it!!! Otherwise, the photo just looks like a blurry, hot mess! With just the skin softened, pores, blemishes, etc are not visible. If you have any questions with this assignment, let me know. Have a great day everyone!

Periods 1 & 5
Hello everyone. Hope you had a great day yesterday and that your Tuesday is going well so far. I responded to quite a few emails from yesterday. Thanks for the questions and feedback! Please don't hesitate to keep them coming if you need help or questions answered! The logo is due tomorrow. I know that some of you need that time to work on it. No worries! You can continue to use class time today and tomorrow to finish it up.

I would like to introduce two new assignments to those that are ready for a new challenge. The first one is removing a blemish like a mole, pimple, etc. with the clone stamp tool. You can find a video and handout on that page that I just linked to. It should be a pretty straightforward tool to use although it can be difficult to truly master. Unlike in my example, you should use your own photo! The second assignment is to use the patch tool to blend/soften the dark circles under someones eyes. Do keep in mind that it will not remove all the darkness, just blend it! Let me know if you have questions! Have a fantastic day everyone!

Periods 1 & 5
Good morning! Hope you had a fantastic weekend and that you Monday is off to a great start! Today is probably the only day that I am not posting a new assignment this week. After talking with you all on Thursday about where you are, I think it may be best to spend today focusing on your logo. It isn't due until Wednesday, so there is still plenty of time to finish up, but tomorrow I will definitely be introducing more assignments. Remember that this project, unlike the others, doesn't go by how well it matches the original, but how good it looks on it's own. It's all about looking great, and to that end, you can use any of the tools that I have shown you. If you forget how to use the pen tool, this video reviews the practice vector. If you are done and want to touch up your drawing, this video will walk you through that as well. If you hit a snag that you can't overcome, some of your classmates have become excellent vectorers, maybe you could see them for some advice. Don't hesitate to email if you have any issues! Have a great day!
