Good morning everyone. Hope all is well with each of you! After a work day yesterday, today we are going to move on to a new assignment and lesson. I spent a decent amount of time grading yesterday and have graded up to the Film Strip Collage. I have noticed that there are a few of you that haven't made much progress lately. I know that it sucks not having me there to help you but I'm here to answer questions. You just have to email me! We are going to continue to work on new assignments, even after I return Monday, so try to keep moving forward as much as you can! Below you will find a link to a lesson on Exposure Basics. This gets to the very heart of photography. I know it's a little heavy at times, especially when I get into balancing aperture and shutter. This is important, but I won't ask you to take any manual photos and use this specifically. After watching the video, you can get started on the next project, the lens flare background. Here we are doing something totally new... using Photoshop as a drawing tool. This isn't an uncommon thing. In fact, many people use Photoshop for art creation. Up until now though we have only used it for editing photos. So here we will draw a cool looking background like the one on the left. It's not particularly difficult, but you'll want to follow the link below to make it. Don't forget that tomorrow your depth of field photos are due! Have a great day everyone!

Periods 4 & 5
Good afternoon everyone. Today we are moving on into our Principles of Design unit. We'll start today by learning about what the Principles of Design are. If you use them, you're more likely to create a design that is effective and attractive. None of the principles are real complex or difficult to grasp, but they are important none the less. After you learn about these principles, I'd like you to take a look at the critiquing link below. On that page you'll find a video critique that I did on a cookie advertisement. Watch the video and see how I felt they did with the ad. Then I would like you to find your own ad. You're welcome to use newspapers, magazines or even Google. If you opt for the Google route, I would search for print ads. These advertisements will have more detail and give you more to talk about than a small banner or side bar ad from a website. The subject of the ad makes no difference as long as it's school appropriate and an effective ad. Once you have done this you're done for the day. Have a great day ladies and gentlemen!
